Happy Birthday to a long time maker of great movies, and winner of 7 awards and 4 nominations.
Currently, Mr. Argento is working on “Dracula 3D“, which as the name suggests, is a 3D remake of the Dracula story.
Check out his IMDB profile page for a full listing of his work.

My old comic site setup was getting “Hacked” with a lot of spam links, probably all scripted and automated and stuff. So I replaced the back-end software, and have basically recreated the entire site, which unfortunately means I have lost all comments to the comic posts. It was a long and painful process of downloading all 300 comics, renaming all of them, then re-uploading them all, all done on this amazingly crappy Internet service they offer here in Iraq.

The LostCarcosa WebComic is now 6 years old!
It’s my longest running project. Â Until this Army deployment, it went 5 years without missing a Monday. Â The deployment forced an every other Monday schedule, but it’s still going on. Â Unfortunately, not drawing much at all while in Iraq is going to make continuing the comic a very hard thing to do. Â It’s a bit tough to keep up the creativity needed for a comic every week, but we’ll see what happens. Â I’m hoping for another 6 years at least.

On this date in 1933, Robert W. Chambers  passed away.  Who was Mr. Chambers?  He was the author of “The King in Yellow”, a collection of short stories centered around his fictitious drama by the same name.  It would later be the inspiration for other horror writers, including Howard P. Lovecraft.

I just went on a nice little 32 mile bike ride on my Cervelo P2C from Salem, MA to Gloucester and back and it was great. Â It was a perfect 75 degree day, although the wind was a bit strong, especially on the ride back. Â On the ride, I took a couple of new things with me. Â I thought I’d make a few comments about them here.
- Hammer Heed – Melon
- Hammer Heed – Strawberry
The Hammer Heed drink mixes were a surprise to me after all the rides I’ve done with the very strong flavored EFS, Nuun, and Camelbak drinks.  The Hammer drinks almost tasted watered down in comparison, but I found it to be refreshing as it was more akin to drinking some of the flavored waters out there, rather than the sugary sweet energy drinks.  I think this softer flavor helped me drink down more of the water than I have done with other drink mixes, which is sometimes a good thing for me, as I sometimes tend to shy away from the liquids unless it really calls to me.  EFS Lemonade drink mix calls to me, maybe a bit too much.
Both the Strawberry and the Melon are tasty, but neither one stands out as memorable.  They do the job, taste nice, and feel clean going in.  Overall, I give the Hammer Heed a positive “I will be buying this again” score.
- Clif Shot Energy Gel – Mocha
- Clif Shot Energy Gel – Double Expresso
Like all the other Gels, these ones are thick, sticky sweet, and require a chaser of fluid to get rid of the glue in mouth feeling, but man is that Mocha one tasty! Â It’s more chocolaty than coffee, but very good. Â This one has 50mg of caffeine, is 90% organic, and is entirely natural. Â Mmmm.
The Double Expresso also shares the same 90% organic and entirely natural properties, but has double the caffeine at 100mg. Â Did I notice the caffeine difference? Â Not that I could tell, as I don’t find that caffeine does much for me in terms f jitters or hyperness, but maybe it helped having the double shot on the return ride against the wind. Â How was the taste? Â Wow! They aren’t joking around with the Double Expresso. Â This thing is a shot of some strong coffee that can wake you up with the taste alone! Â It might be just the thing for late in the ride when you’re mind starts to feel a bit mushy and you need a good slap in the face.
My conclusion? Both of these will be on my “I will be buying these to stuff my face” list.
Now, get out there and ride!
